Opportunities for Solar Powered Water Pumping
Opportunities for using solar power to generate electricity for water pumping existing where there are pumping tasks.
The pumping tasks can vary from small to enormous. For example, to replace a diesel generator on a livestock watering point; Or to meet the bulk water removal needs of an irrigation district.
Generally, various sizes of PV systems and complexity of projects are involved, depending on the amount of energy required, the types of pumps applied and whether the PV array is combined with diesel generation and grid connected.
Integrated solar pumping packages on the market are for small pumping tasks. These include a PV array(can be one solar module) and a pump. These immediate solutions may be the easiest way to perform a small scale solar pumping solution and bring users much convenience. It is essential to understand, however, that there is no such thing as a “solar pump”. Maybe your existing electric pumps are well suited for use in a solar-powered pumping project.
Whatever the size of the project is, we recommend that users gain familiarity with the technology, assess a range of options and make ROI comparisons.
P.S.:
1. PV array and PV system.
The former term refers to the collection of solar modules that makes up the PV array, and the latter term refers to the PV array and all the associated components (disconnects, controllers, inverters, batteries, and so on) that make it operational and useful.
2. ROI is a performance measure used to evaluate the efficiency of an investment.
