A bypass diode does one thing: switch off one-third of your panel the moment a shadow hits a string. That's the design constraint built into every conventional PERC and TOPCon module. Back-contact architectures — HPBC 2.0 and ABC — route current internally around shaded cells without triggering the diode. Shade stays localized. The rest of the panel keeps working.
